Forensic Science For Wednesday November 5th

Fingerprints in Forensics:

We will be investigating how to imprint our fingerprints.

  1. We will do the vocabulary from Chapter 4 and do the Crossword puzzle.
  2. We will watch a Video on the history of Fingerprints
  3. We will watch a Video on the proper technique for fingerprinting.
  4. Each student will get their own Fingerprint card.
  5. You will be responsible for identifying the fingerprints and also making any comments about marks or identifiers.

Biomes

Here are the requirements for our Biome powerpoint

Environmental Education
Slide 1: Include your name. Include your class period. Graphic is optional
Slide 2: Include title. Describe Biome location and general characteristics
Slide 3: Describe physical factors of the biome:
·        Temperature
·        Precipitation
·        Landforms
·        Bodies of water or (lack of )
·        Include a graphic
Slide 4: Describe the living (biotic)factors in the Biome
·        Plants (minimum of 3)
·        Amimals (minimum of 3)
·        Describe an example of competition
·        Describe an example of a predator-prey relationship
·        A graphic is optional
Slide 5 : Describe the adaptations of plants and animals that are needed to survive in the biome
·        Give a least 2 examples of animal adaptations
·        Give one example of plant adaptation

·        There needs to be one graphic. 

Plant, Animal cells and Bacterial

In MCAS review, we will be reviewing the parts of an animal cell and a plant cell. We need to know the function of the organelles. Cell biology is a great link for review. http://www.cellsalive.com/cells/cell_model.htm

In Environmental Education: We will look at some of the awesome Powerpoints and brochures that were designed by you!

Class updates for 10/15/14

Environmental Education:  We have finished out powerpoints and brochures on our biomes and will present these on Thursday, Oct. 16th. In class we will review food webs by doing an interactive activity using Explorelearning. Our next topic will be the cycling of matter through all the different spheres. There will be a quiz on the Cycling of Matter on Monday. Take good notes.

Forensic Science: On Friday, Oct 17th, we will do a crime scene sketch activity. There will be a quiz on Tuesday on protocol for processing a crime scene. Guest speaker on the 23rd. Reminder to review your rubric for participation. This is 15% of your grade. 

I am after school on Mondays from 2:10-3:00pm

Robot dolphins, a robot tuna and a robot sea turtle fitted with HD cameras have filmed close encounters with real dolphins to capture their lives and reveal their mysteries to landlubbers watching warm and dry from their sofas.
"Swimming alongside some of the most captivating and clever animals on the planet, these new spies are always on the move — catching the waves with surfing bottlenose dolphins and speeding with a megapod of spinner dolphins," according to BBC Media about its program "Dolphins: Spy In the Pod" to air Jan. 2
